A simple Maharashtrian recipe but as good as soul food.
It's such a gratifying drink to sip on, on a grey rainy day or even a cold winter day. This is one of my mom's classic recipes. Whenever we fell ill, this would be our patent meal. Mild, simple and delicious! A spectacular combo to give your stomach a break from the regular masalas.
This cant exactly be categorised as a soup, but its soothing effects are amazing. A nice tangy onion, tomato, garlic purée, tempered in ghee with peppercorn and cloves. Absolutely heavenly!
It can't be categorised as a dal either, but when it's had with simple moong dal khichdi, ghee, poppadums and pickle, NOTHING can give you the satisfaction of eating a simple yet lip-smacking delicious meal!
There are a few versions of it which include coconut milk, but I prefer making this with puréed tomatoes only.
A very very easy and a quick recipe, but a 100% divine meal!
