My husband is a big fan of daal - rice. And ofcourse, the same ones can't be repeated for atleast two week. So whenever there is a request for dal-rice for dinner, I have to get into the 5th gear for innovations.
This one surprisingly turned out absolutely delicious! Especially with jeera rice, ghee, poppadums and pickle. Lip-smacking yummy!

INGREDIENTS 1 cup Tur Dal 2 Ghee Jeera Hing Turmeric Powder Onion Garlic Paste Methi Leaves Peanuts Coriander Leaves | QUANTITY 1 cup 2 tbsp 1 tsp 1 tsp 1 large, chopped 1 tbsp 1 cup chopped OR 1.5 tbsp Kasuri Methi 2 tbsp 2 tbsp, chopped |
RECIPE
Wash, clean and leave the dal in the water for sometime.
Chop onions, coriander leaves.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add the cumin seeds and hing.
Add the garlic paste, saute for 2-3 minutes, then add the washed methi leaves to this and stir for a minute.
Add the chopped onions and cook till they are translucent. Add the turmeric powder, stir well.
Add the peanuts, dal and the required amount of water, cook for 4-5 whistles.
Mash well, adjust the seasoning and garnish with coriander leaves.
