As we became seniors in the airline, our schedules were absolutely crazy. Literally living out of a suitcase! We would never get any time to cook a complete meal, eat it in peace, do the dishes and go to work. Who could do all that when you hardly had 10 hours between two flights to catch up on your rest, do your laundry and prepare for you next flight.
This invention came in very handy in those busy-as-a-bee schedules. Put all the ingredients in the pressure cooker, and cook them for 20 minutes and voilà! A perfect nutritionally balanced meal with proteins, carbohydrates and fiber is ready to be feasted on to fuel us for our long working hours.
In those times, there would be a cooker full of this khichdi always available in the fridge for a quick meal, and off to work. Our friends would always come over to re-fuel their energy tanks. It actually became known as 808 (our flat number) khichdi.
Tastes even better with yogurt and pickle or a nice crispy fried egg.
