Mix together the water, milk and sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar, sprinkle the dried yeast and leave in a warm place till it becomes frothy, around 5 minutes.
Mix the butter, salt and eg together.
Put the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the centre.
Pour in the yeast and butter mixtures and mix in the flour until the dough is well formed.
Knead on a floured surface for 5 - 10 minutes, till the dough is smooth and elastic.
Grease a mixing bowl, put in the bowl and cover and allow to rise for an hour.
Deflate the dough and roll into a rectangle about 20x30 cms.
Bake in a pre-heated oven at 190 deg C / 375 deg F or gas-mark 5 for about 25 minutes.
