My husband is a big fan of dal - rice. And ofcourse, the same ones can't be repeated for atleast two week. So whenever there is a request for dal-rice for dinner, I have to get into the 5th gear for innovations.
This one surprisingly turned out absolutely delicious! The garlic, and coconut paste give it such a gorgeous taste. Especially with jeera rice, ghee poppadums and pickle. Lip-smacking yummy!

INGREDIENTS Oil Tur Dal Garlic Green Chilli Cumin Seeds Turmeric Powder Coconut Hing Coriander Leaves | QUANTITY 1 tbsp 1 cup 6 - 7 cloves OR 1 tsp Garlic Paste 1 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp 1 tbsp, dry / fresh 1/4 tsp 2 tbsp |
RECIPE
Wash and soak the dal, set aside.
Roast the cumin and grind it with the garlic cloves and green chilli.
In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add the ground masala. Cook for 1-2 minutes on a low flame.
Add the washed dal and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add required amount of water, and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
Mash the dal well, add the coconut and coriander leaves. Boil well.
